  • George Hill

For the Bucks, this is a salary-clearing situation as they'll save $18 million in cap space for the 2019-20 season.

In exchange, the Cavaliers will send guard George Hill and a 2021 second round pick (Washington's via Utah) to the Bucks and forward Sam Dekker to the Wizards.

Brian Windhorst explained it as a strategic move by the Cavaliers to take on money because they want to acquire draft picks.

George Hill and Wisconsin native Sam Dekker were supposed to head to Milwaukee.

Despite missing a chunk of the season, Hill is a player that will be useful for the Bucks on the court, where his career three-point shooting mark of over 38 percent will see him fit in well with both the Bucks reserves and starters. "We wish Jason the best moving forward and appreciate the value he brought to our team as a great teammate and true professional".

The deal potentially could save the Bucks about $19 million next season if they don't keep Hill, who has only $1 million of a $19 million deal guaranteed.

Hill, 32, is averaging 10.8 points and shooting 46 percent on 3-pointers, though he missed 11 games with a shoulder injury.

Cleveland sends guard George Hill and a 2021 second-round draft pick to Milwaukee, and forward Sam Dekker to Washington.

Per league rules, Burks can not be traded until the deadline.

The undersized point guard averaged 5.7 points and 3.4 assists per game during his three seasons in Cleveland, including an epic 2015 Finals performance that saw him score 20 points in Game 3 while leading the Cavaliers to victory.

After the departure of LeBron James in the summer, the Cavaliers are officially in asset-acquisition mode and will be looking to re-stock their draft capital.

There was no surprise whatsoever that the Cavaliers traded Hill; he is a veteran that can help a stabilize a second unit point guard role on a contending team with his low-usage style, and spot-up prowess.
