Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James (23) controls the ball against the Utah Jazz during the second half at Staples Center.
To be honest the Lakers will probably be better off letting that happen. I keep telling them I'm strong enough to play most minutes, but they won't listen to me, so, it's OK.
"The scouts also have noticed that when James is running the point, he rarely looks toward the bench to receive playcalls from coach Luke Walton".
"That's the challenge I've been kind of battling with since the season started", James said. "How much do I defer and allow some of our young guys to kind of try to figure it out and how much do I try to take over games?"
The Lakers are just 21 games into James' first season, and he is still adjusting his game to his new team's needs. "People are going to be talking about us, but that's not how it's going right now". But the NBA now requires players to be at least 19 years old before entering the draft, resulting in many teenagers playing one season of college basketball before jumping to the NBA.
LeBron Reveals What College Coach He Wants His Son To Play For
LeBron and the Lakers had a game to forget against Denver.
Oh, Magic Johnson, what is you doin'?
"Basically minutes, trying to make sure we don't overplay him and then also usage of the ball in his hands", Johnson said. "But the way he was moving out there, it just didn't feel right to leave him out on the court, so we got him out quickly".
"It's a challenge to match up and defend those guys when LeBron is playing five different positions", IN coach Nate McMillan said. He knows when those times are, and he's good at that. "Once we do that, we will be a really good team".
