Abrams, who could become the first African-American woman governor in history, in an interview with the CNN, slammed the accusation made against her party, calling Kemp's actions a "desperate attempt on the part of my opponent to distract people".

Democrats immediately cried foul, noting Kemp has offered no evidence for his claims and pointing out the massive conflict of interest in Kemp launching an investigation into the people he is running against in his own election campaign.

But an attorney for a group suing over the security of Georgia's electronic voting machines said he provided the information about the vulnerability to the state's attorneys. But, she said she doesn't want that to drive the outcome.

"After learning of a failed attempt to hack the state's online voter registration and My Voter Page, my office contacted the Department of Homeland Security and opened an investigation", Kemp said in a brief posting on his campaign's Facebook page.

Nathan Deal completes his second term, Democrat Stacey Abrams and Republican Brian Kemp square off for the seat in a political race that has put Georgia in the spotlight.

"This is yet another example of abuse of power by an unethical secretary of state", Rebecca DeHart, executive director of the Georgia Democratic Party, said on Sunday.

The website's vulnerability could allow someone to access personal information, such as driver's license numbers and addresses, and potentially change voter registration information without permission, said Richard DeMillo, a computer scientist at Georgia Tech. A survey past year by the security firm Carbon Black reported that one in four people said they would skip future elections based on worries their votes could be compromised.

The latest poll: A WSB/Atlanta Journal Constitution poll out Friday showed Abrams with an extremely narrow lead over Kemp - 46.9 percent to 46.7 percent.

Her husband Lance Whatley, a 29-year-old software engineer, was leaning toward voting for Kemp as he waited. "This is how we would handle any investigation when something like this comes up", said Brian Kemp, Secretary of State and Republican candidate for Governor.

There are seats and positions up for election all over the United States, but for VSU students, the race that everyone has their eyes on is the Georgia's gubernatorial race of a lifetime.

"And so I promise that every single person who votes for Stacey Abrams, you're going to get a new auto!"

"Iconic" is 40 Black senior citizens told to get off a bus that was taking them to a poll station to cast early votes.

Now that Democrat Abrams stands a good chance of pulling off an upset in a conservative stronghold state, Kemp may just want to have an excuse to contest the results should the election not tip in his favor. And we know what to do about that: "Vote".

He calls it an investigation. "You need to vote for us because we're better". Thank you so much.
