Voters in NY reported a number of problems at polling locations during the state's primary on Thursday.

Asked for comment about the Nixon-BDS story pitch, Cuomo's campaign press secretary Abbey Collins said: "The off the record email forwarded to the New York Post contained published articles and publicly available information on Cynthia Nixon's positions on issues concerning Israel sent for the Post's information - those articles have nothing to do with the wrong and inappropriate mail piece that went out and shouldn't have".

Nixon's position on pot was viral enough to cause rapper T.I.to gush over her on Twitter, though he admitted he doesn't know who the candidate is.

Polls show Cuomo has a commanding lead, with the most recent survey, from Siena College, suggesting he was more than 40 percentage points ahead in the race's final days.

In an interview on Tuesday with the Time On Politics reporter Lisa Lerer, Nixon said of the mailer: "I thought it was disgusting and cynical and really surprising that Andrew Cuomo's New York State party would stoop to this kind of fear-mongering and lies".

The race has turned increasingly bitter and expensive, as Cuomo has spent $18 million to Nixon's $1.6 million, according to state figures.

"It is hard to go up against the Cuomo machine and it takes an enormous amount of bravery, but we are exhausted of the status Cuomo", she added.

"Experience doesn't mean that much if you're not actually good at governing", she said, in another attack on Cuomo.

The most-watched race is a fiercely fought contest between Gov. Andrew Cuomo and activist actress Cynthia Nixon.

Nixon would likely need a surge in voting activity in a state generally known for low turnout, especially in primaries, to win.

Cuomo followed up by saying he reached out to Democratic officials to "make sure it doesn't happen again", and he repeated those comments again on Monday.

In November's general election, Cuomo will face Republican Marc Molinaro, the Dutchess County executive, and Stephanie Miner, the former Syracuse mayor running as an independent.

Attorney general candidate Zephyr Teachout, who launched an unsuccessful primary bid against Cuomo in 2014, has been endorsed by Senator Bernie Sanders, who has also endorsed Williams.

Nixon further portrayed the governor, whose public service stretches back to his tenure in President Bill Clinton's Department of Housing and Urban Development, including almost four years as secretary, as insufficiently liberal for today's Democratic Party. "And because I believed that he was a Democrat, the way he said he was". Describing herself as a "queer" woman, Nixon has said that she better reflects the party's diverse ranks than her straight, white, male opponent.

State attorney general candidate Tish James was also at the pep rally, which was attended by dozens of local and state lawmakers.

Underwood says she hopes it's clear the office "is the sum of all its staff".
