Henry Cavill out as Superman? Actor not now planned for more films

  • REPORT Henry Cavill is Out as Superman in the DCEU

The report suggests that Warner Bros. will use Cavill's exit, plus the increasingly likely departure of Ben Affleck as Batman to "reset" the DC franchise. The movie would have been Cavill's last shot as appearing as the Man of Steel.

It's unlikely that Warner will be producing a new solo Superman film for several years, sources told The Hollywood Reporter.

"While no decisions have been made regarding any upcoming Superman films, we've always had great respect for and a great relationship with Henry Cavill, and that remains unchanged", the statement read.

A report on Deadline says they have looked at going in a completely different direction for Superman - with Creed star Michael B Jordan having reportedly being considered to take the role.

Warner Brothers' DCEU, or the DC Extended Universe, has had its share of problems.

Neither Henry Cavill nor Warner Bros. gave a definitive statement on whether he could reprise his role of Superman. The studio was apparently not looking to make a solo Superman film in the immediate future - instead looking towards a Supergirl origin story. To date, the only universally successful DC-pegged release was 2017's Wonder Woman, which landed both with critics and at the box office.

Scheduling conflict: The Hollywood Reporter write that Henry, who has played Superman in three films, can't commit to a planned cameo in Shazam! One project the studio will focus on developing is a Supergirl movie.

Ezra Miller, who starred as Flash in Justice League, is thought to still be on board for a standlone which is due to start shooting in early 2019.

Superman is hanging up his red cape.

Warner Bros.is well aware of how many people are now displeased with the state of their DC franchise, and are apparently trying to find different angles to change that. Don't worry, because it was recently announced that the British actor will play the lead in the upcoming Netflix series, "The Witcher". Will there be backlash against Warner Bros for not re-signing Henry Cavill as Superman?
