Multiple US media sources are this morning confirming the tragic death of hip-hop star Mac Miller at the young age of 26.

Celebrity news site TMZ said that Miller was found dead from an apparent overdose in his Los Angeles-area home and US Weekly said it also confirmed his death.

Our thoughts are with Mac Miller, his family, friends and his fans.

Miller dated pop superstar Ariana Grande for two years and struggled with substance abuse in the past. His debut studio album, Blue Slide Park, was released on Rostrum Records in 2011. Five years ago, Miller told Complex that while on the concoction "I was so fucked up all the time it was bad".

Mac and Ariana split after she dubbed their relationship "toxic" but she had revealed on Twitter that she always supported his sobriety.

When reached by phone Friday afternoon, the Los Angeles County Coroner's office would not confirm Miller's death.

Miller released three more full-length albums before his death, including Swimming, which was released on August 3.

Her Twitter statement continued: "I am not a babysitter or a mother and no woman should feel that they need to be". In May, the Swimming rapper wrecked his auto after hitting a utility pole. The album entered at number one on the Billboard 200.

Others insinuated that Ariana's choice to leave him for Pete Davidson, the Saturday Night Live star, led him to take drugs. I'm sure she's having a hard time.

"I used to rap super openly about really dark s***", he told Vulture in a profile that published on Thursday. You know, it's all positive energy. "I will continue to pray from the bottom of my heart that he figures it all out". "I wish it started tomorrow", he wrote.

The pair dated for nearly two years and recorded multiple songs together, including "My Favorite Part and "The Way".

He was scheduled to launch a U.S. tour next month, and had tweeted about it on Thursday.
