John Cross says why he thinks Jose Mourinho has lost his 'special' status

The Red Devils have endured a mixed start to the season, with defeats to Brighton and Tottenham, but returned to winning ways over the weekend with a 2-0 victory over Burnley.

Paul Pogba had the opportunity to put the match out of sight but had his penalty saved by Joe Hart and Marcus Rashford's red card left a sour taste in the mouth.

"I didn't see it, the only thing I can say is that is probably the experience of Bardsley, 20 years in football, against the impulse and naivety of a guy who has been in top football for three years but is still a young head", said Mourinho.

"They say I'm in danger, but I don't think so".

The manager was quick to heap praise onto Sunday's opposition, recognising the strength they possessed despite the recent troubles, which included a banner being flown over Turf Moor stating some United fans disgust at Executive Vice Chairman Ed Woodward.

Given the noisy protest flying overhead before kick-off, United showed impressive focus from the off to secure their second win of the season and alleviate some pressure on Mourinho.

Another huge talking point from the game was the sending off of Marcus Rashford for a "headbutt" on Burnley right back Phil Bardsley. When quizzed about still holding the prestigious title of "The Special One" he demanded "respect, respect, respect" from journalists, noting his three Premier League titles is more than the other division's bosses combined.

As the quibbling among Manchester United's upper echelons continues to percolate, Jose Mourinho has quite literally laughed off speculation that he is edging ever closer to losing his job.

"I don't know, I didn't watch", Mourinho said.

However, with the score still 0-0 at the break, a different Spurs side and a different United team came out and the visitors were brilliant to deservedly win 3-0.

Pogba has made it clear that he wants to return to Turin and play in the same team as Cristiano Ronaldo, who moved to Juventus from Real Madrid in the summer. They had created several chances before Sanchez and Lukaku linked up for the opener just before the half-hour mark.

"We lost at home, the fans were wonderful to the team, the team understood that the direction was good, the result was bad".

United now have to wait two weeks before their next game against Watford. We are together, we are strong and I can't wait to start. The performance was very good.
