In the images, the gorgeous 5.8-inch iPhone XS is placed over the 6.5-inch model and come with the same notch design as the original iPhone X (2017).
Apple is set to launch the phone in a new gold colour option that hasn't previously been available.
The wholly new iPhone will still be iPhone X inspired by design, but it will come with an LCD screen and be aimed at replacing the iPhone 6 and 5C in the market. Other possible products that could be on deck for a grand reveal include new Apple Watch models, an updated iPad Pro and the next version of its AirPods.
Apple Inc said Thursday it will host an event on September 12 at the Steve Jobs Theater in the company's Cupertino, California, campus, where it is widely expected to unveil new iPhone models. Some are saying that this model will be the next step for the iPhone X and might be called the iPhone XS when September 12th rolls around. The iPhone X now is only available in black or white. Most interestingly, this new leak also revealed that for the first time ever, Apple's most exciting launch of the season won't be a new iPhone. The company has adjusted for those changes by charging more for each phone - $1,000 for the iPhone X, for example - but is also looking to build up other product lines and its push into services such as entertainment. We've got a pretty good idea of what to expect but as always, there could be a surprise or two in store.
What's most eye-catching, however, is that there is a new watch face that packs an incredible amount of information on-screen - in fact, it seems nearly like information overload at first glance. The absence of the latter would suggest that Face ID will be its replacement. The invite didn't provide any more details about the event, but it was accompanied by a graphic of a circle with the phrase "Gather Round" underneath it.
A new Apple Watch, the Series 4, is also expected to be shown at the event. Those two side buttons also have a different look to their incarnations on previous Apple Watch models.
Apple did not immediately respond to a USA TODAY request for comment.
