  • Severe-weather warning extended to Broward County

"We are stuck in this prolonged pattern as moisture will continue to feed right into the region from the south", Storm Team 4 meteorologist Lauryn Ricketts said. There's a chance of rain and storms from Monday through Thursday. Any roads that are already flooded will experience additional flooding.

A round of thunderstorms is projected for Friday afternoon into the evening, possibly featuring heavy rain and strong winds.

Sunday's forecast calls for partly sunny skies with a high of 75 and a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon.

PLAINS: High - 80s; Low - 60s.

Some areas of the state are expected to push near 90 Friday, but low temperatures Friday night will be cooler, in the high 60s or low 70s. Heavy downpours and flash flooding are the primary concern in any thunderstorms, but there could be an isolated stronger storm that is capable of a stronger wind gust in a few spots. The weather service did not say all areas under warning would experience severe weather, just that the risk was higher. As of now the storm prediction center does not believe we will have to deal with severe weather.

That month, Hurricane Connie brought more than 10 inches of rain in three days.

Drier air will try to move into areas west of New York City on Thursday, and this will tend to limit shower activity to a more scattered variety by then. Hersheypark amusement park was forced to close its gates for a second time this week due to flash flooding.

The overall chance for rain is 70 percent.
