Stephen Colbert declares Infowars’ Alex Jones has lost his 'war on info'

"We'll enforce if he does", he said. This followed the nearly simultaneous removal of his podcasts and pages from Apple, Facebook, and Spotify for hate-speech violations.

Apple, Google and Spotify have all taken action against InfoWars over the past few weeks over concerns about its extreme content.

Dorsey said it was the responsibility of journalists to police accounts such as Jones' for accuracy and fairness.

He is now being sued by the parents of the children murdered in the 2012 Sandy Hook school shooting, having claimed the attack was a hoax. "And we'll continue to promote a healthy conversational environment by ensuring tweets aren't artificially amplified".

In a series of tweets Tuesday, Dorsey said that Jones has not violated Twitter's rules.

USA radio host Alex Jones (C) uses a megaphone to speak to crowds near the Quicken Loans Arena, the venue for the 2016 Republican National Convention. Jones also claims the 9/11 terror attack on NY and Washington were staged by the government. The InfoWars podcasts serve as advertising for a wide range of wellness and survivalism products, making Jones as much as $18 million per year.

However, viewers are now flocking to Apple's app store as Infowars' content has yet to be removed from that platform.

"We believe in representing a wide range of views, so long as people are respectful to those with different opinions".

The iOS app Infowars Official was ranked the fourth most popular news app earlier today, less than 48 hours after Apple and other tech companies booted Jones off its social media platforms. CEO Jack Dorsey (below) took to the platform to explain that decision, and was hit with a steady stream of feedback telling him he needs to have a rethink.

The document reads: "Twitter is reflective of real conversations happening in the world and that sometimes includes perspectives that may be offensive, controversial, and/or bigoted". In an apparent reference to other tech companies, he added that Twitter would not "succumb and simply react to outside pressure".

In a similar move, Spotify also removed all the episodes of Jones' The Alex Jones Show after removing selected episodes last week. "We're fixing that", Dorsey said.
