USA intelligence officials familiar Pyongyang's operations say that new evidence, including recent satellite photos, suggest the regime is producing at least one liquid-fueled ICBM at a research facility.

"We see them going to work, just as before", the Post quoted one USA official as saying.

Monday's reports about ongoing activities at Sanumdong are the latest to indicate that North Korea is still working on its nuclear and missile facilities, despite ongoing talks with the U.S. about disarmament.

The return of US remains was one of four points listed in a joint declaration after the June summit between US President Donald Trump and North Korea's Kim Jong-un.

There have also been reports that North Korea is operating a uranium enrichment facility in secret.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo also acknowledged during a Senate testimony on July 25 that North Korean factories "continue to produce fissile material" used in making nuclear weapons, although he declined to say whether Pyongyang is building new missiles.

Coordinating Human Development and Culture Minister Puan Maharani visited North Korea on Tuesday to deliver a personal invitation from President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo for North Korean leader Kim Jong-un to attend the Asian Games 2018 hosted by Indonesia.

In recent months, USA agencies have raised their estimates of the size of North Korea's nuclear arsenal.

USA intelligence officials familiar with Pyongyang's operations say that new evidence, including recent satellite photos, suggests that the regime is producing at least one liquid-fueled ICBM at the Sanumdong research facility, near Pyongyang.

Their schemes include potentially claiming that they have completely denuclearized by declaring and disposing of 20 warheads while keeping dozens more, the Post wrote.

These are not the first reports that North Korea may be continuing its weapons programme, casting doubt on the real impact of the summit in Singapore.

The remains will undergo a lengthy forensics process at the military lab, which is staffed by more than 30 anthropologists, archaeologists and forensic odontologists.

United Nations honor guards carry a casket containing remains transferred by North Korea onto a plane at Osan Air Base in Pyeongtaek, South Korea, on Wednesday. Trump has since said Kim is willing to give up his nukes, but signals from the secretive nation have been mixed.

Between 1990 and 2005, 229 sets of remains were returned to the United States, but co-operation halted as relations deteriorated alongside the development of North Korea's nuclear programme. "We know what they said". "So between this and Kangson, we are seeing an expanded and improved nuclear and missile force".

"North Korea doesn't recognise exactly where that sea border should be and it's hoped that they can have some agreement to prevent further clashes in the future", he said. "This is a facility where they build ICBMs and space-launch vehicles". "The nuclear program provides them with a deterrent in their mind against regime change by the United States".

But Trump now faces criticism at home and elsewhere that North Korea hasn't taken any serious steps toward disarmament and may be trying to buy time to weaken worldwide sanctions against it.
