Promoting voter ID, Trump says ID needed to buy groceries

President Donald Trump claimed shoppers need to show a photo ID to buy groceries. The Trump administration last week announced plans for $12 billion in temporary aid to help farmers deal with retaliatory tariffs from USA trading partners in response to Trump's policies.

Watch more from the rally above. 'In this country, if you want to buy nearly anything, you need ID'. The AP noted that "it's unclear when the president last purchased groceries or anything else himself".

Shoppers do need IDs to buy alcohol, some medicines and cigarettes.

Trump made the statement during a rally Tuesday night in Tampa, Florida, where he promoted the campaigns of two Florida Republicans ahead of the state's primary.

The QAnon conspiracy theory alleges that there is a global, multi-pronged Illuminati-esque force conspiring against the president and all things good and decent in the world, and Trump is standing steadfast against that force and working behind the scenes to take them down.

The president spoke at a massive rally at the Florida State Fairgrounds in support of GOP Florida gubernatorial candidate Ron DeSantis.

The president is set to trumpet his endorsement of Republican candidate for governor, Rep. Ron DeSantis, who has been a staunch defender of the president against the Mueller probe looking into possible Russian meddling in the 2016 USA presidential election.

Polling suggests that DeSantis has overcome Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam's once-commanding lead, due nearly exclusively to the president's endorsement.

"We have to make sure Rick Scott wins, and wins big".

Scott didn't joined Trump at the rally but appeared with him at an earlier roundtable event.

"In this country the only time you don't need it in many cases is when you want to vote for a president, when you want to vote for a senator, when you want to vote for a governor or a congressman", Trump continued.
