The lyrics to the song tell the sad details of Demi's battle with drug and alcohol abuse as she apologizes to her parents for her recent troubles. The cause, however, is unclear.

Demi Lovato was rushed to an L.A. hospital after an apparent overdose on Tuesday afternoon (July 24).

The outlet reported that she was found unconscious at her Hollywood Hills home and treated with an emergency narcotic overdose treatment called Narcan.

The Los Angeles Police Department would confirm only that officers responded around 11:40 a.m.to a home in the 8000 block of Laurel View Drive in Hollywood for what was described as a medical emergency.

Sources told TMZ Lovato has been struggling recently.

The source also referenced the Lovato's song, "Sober", in which she admits that after six years of sobriety, she had fallen off the wagon.

In a single released last month, Sober, she sings: "Mommy, I'm so sorry I'm not sober anymore".

"Wilmer is completely devastated and he still loves Demi and it was just a matter of scheduling and time that they needed to make a romantic relationship work".

Following the reports, USA chatshow host Ellen DeGeneres tweeted: "I love @DDLovato so much". Her friends knew this was coming because she's been using so much again, ' the insider revealed.

"Our thoughts go out to Demi and her family", Fox said in a statement provided to CNN.

Fellow musicians and celebrities, including Ariana Grande, Brad Paisley and Ellen DeGeneres began taking to Twitter, showing an outpouring of support for Lovato.

The New Mexico-born performer rose to fame on Disney Channel shows "Camp Rock" and "Sonny with a Chance" 10 years ago and forged a pop career with hits like "Skyscraper" and "Sorry Not Sorry". "I adore you and so does the entire world", actress Ruby Rose wrote. In 2017, she was recognized as one of Time Magazine's 100 most influential people for her advocacy on behalf of those with mental illness.
