LeBron James Working to Bring Other All-Stars to Cleveland

  • NBA Minnesota Timberwolves at Los Angeles Lakers

The Cleveland Cavaliers selected Alabama guard Collin Sexton with the No. 8 pick in the National Basketball Association draft, taking a playmaker they hope convinces LeBron James to re-sign with them. Love averaged 17.6 points and 9.3 rebounds in 59 regular-season games last season. He's confident, a proven scorer and he addresses a major need for the Cavs, who traded All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving to Boston a year ago and spent all season trying to replace him.

After losing to the Golden State Warriors in two consecutive NBA Finals appearances, is it time for the Cleveland Cavaliers to make a coaching change?

Before the NBA Draft tonight Colin Cowherd shares some advice for the Cleveland Cavaliers, who are desperate to hold onto their franchises greatest player.

The Cavs also had a glaring hole at point guard, and looked to have filled that with Alabama's Collin Sexton. That's exactly what they did with the eighth overall pick. It's a fine pick, as he's an extremely gifted point guard.

The Cavs had sent strong signals ahead of the draft they wanted to upgrade the roster with veterans, and they still can with some trade chips and their salary cap exception (which Altman said Friday he intends to use). Does that give the Cavs a better chance at re-signing LeBron in the coming weeks?

"We want to respect his space during this process, and I continue to have really good dialogue with his management team as he goes through that process", Cavaliers general manager Koby Altman said, per ESPN.

In fairness, no one available at No. 8 would've dazzled James and sent him scrambling to commit long term in Cleveland.

"Knowing that it's a business, I know that's cliché to say, take it in stride".

"I'm not going to stop in free agency in terms of getting better", Altman said. Perhaps this player offers new options on the trade market, or perhaps this player is actually good enough to contribute, even though Ty Lue doesn't like playing rookies.

Sexton made quite a first impression by deciding to take No. 2, his college number but also the one previously worn in Cleveland by All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving. "The unknown is something that you try to just put out of your hands for a certain amount of time".

While both Cleveland-and the rest of the planet that isn't watching FIFA World Cup 2018-awaits where the King will go, his present kingdom selected a possible apprentice known as The Young Bull who may one day inherit his throne.

My favorite player in the draft!

Adding to the intrigue about James' future is a report via Ryen Russillo of ESPN, who appeared on SportsCenter alongside Scott Van Pelt after the Draft ended.
