Joe Jackson, the patriarch of the Jackson family who built the Jackson 5 and Michael Jackson into global superstars, died Wednesday morning, according to multiple reports.

TMZ reports the former Jackson 5 manager died Wednesday morning at 3:30 a.m.in Los Angeles.

Per the report, Jackson was diagnosed with terminal cancer in June after battling a litany of health issues over the past few years including a stroke and three heart attacks.

Speaking to the Daily Mail before his father died on Wednesday, Jermaine Jackson said some members of the family were unable to gain access to Jackson in his final days.

Over the years, Jackson had a rocky relationship with his wife, Katherine, with whom he had 10 children, according to CNN.

Joe had been suffering poor health in recent years.

When news of his hospitalization first broke, son Jermaine Jackson shared "he's very very frail, he doesn't have long".

"He was inducted into Rhythm & Blues Hall of Fame in 2014 and his son Michael acknowledged him with a Joe Jackson Day at Neverland".

Though Joe's management launched his children into superstardom, with Michael and his sister Janet making names for themselves after going solo, he was also infamous for physically and emotionally abusing his children. "The sun rises when the time comes and whether you like it or not the sun sets when the time comes", he wrote.

Although several of his children, including son, Michael, have said that their father was abusive and strict, Joe Jackson often denied the allegations.

Joe's daughter, LaToya Jackson, meanwhile, took to Twitter to honor her father.

Joe Jackson helped form and manage the Jackson 5 which consisted of Jermaine, Jackie, Tito Marlon and Michael.

'I will always love you!

Joe Jackson attends the Friars Foundation Gala honouring Robert De Niro and Carlos Slim at The Waldorf Astoria on 7 October 2014 in New York City.

He later tweeted and posted on his website to say he was out of the hospital, back home and feeling fine.

"My mother nourished me with the most extravagant love imaginable, my father, my incredible father, drove me to be the best that I can", Janet said. Jackson also had a daughter out of wedlock. The band found success with hit songs including "I Want You Back" and "ABC", among others. It's because I find the thing that I never had through them. Michael, who died in 2009 at age 50 of a drug overdose, told interviewer Oprah Winfrey that he was so afraid of his father that he would sometimes vomit when he saw him.
