Arsenal fans will be eager to see the Uruguayan in action and will be able to do so when Uruguay take on Saudi Arabia in their second World Cup group stage game on the 20th of June.

He said: "We brought Bernd in 2011 as a very young keeper and immediately gave him great responsibility". We wish you all the best in this next phase of your career!'

Arsenal have agreed a deal to sign Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Bernd Leno, sources have told ESPN FC.

BILD says Arsenal will announce the signing of Leno on Tuesday.

Leno, 26, brings immediate competition for the starting spot and most likely means Arsenal will sell one of their two previous goalkeepers - Cech or Colombia global David Ospina - though it remains unclear which one will have to give way.

The right-back has been linked with moves away from north London over the past couple of summers, with Manchester United and Juventus reportedly interested in his services despite a lack of progression to fulfil his early potential.

Arsenal are also optimistic about reaching a deal to sign 22-year-old Sampdoria midfielder Lucas Torreira, who is at the World Cup with Uruguay.

'We are all excited that Bernd has chosen Arsenal and look forward to start working with him in pre-season'.

Leno, 26, moves to the Gunners as new head coach Unai Emery continues his rebuilding plans.

Germany worldwide Leno has six caps for his country, but isn't with them at the World Cup.
