  • Liverpool transfer news Nabil Fekir has been tipped to head to Anfield

Liverpool are closing in on a deal to sign Lyon attacker Nabil Fekir in the next 24 hours, according to reports.

Fekir is on the verge of becoming Jürgen Klopp's second major transfer of the summer, with Anfield officials having agreed a deal worth an initial €55m to the French club plus €5m in bonuses.

The France worldwide had not been expected to finalise a switch to Merseyside before the end of this summer's World Cup.

Liverpool want to wrap up the deal as quickly as possible and announce Fekir's arrival over the course of the weekend.

These are clearly exciting times for fans and players involved with Liverpool and it looks like it could just be the beginning of a busy summer for The Reds.

Didier Deschamps' team play the United States in Lyon on Saturday in their final warm-up game before the finals.

"The record is at a standstill, there is no way forward", said Jean-Michel Aulas.

Reports on Wednesday also suggested that Liverpool were giving serious thought to activating the relegation release clause in Xherdan Shaqiri's contract at Stoke City.

"The whole thing will certainly not be completed during the World Cup, and I don't think anything will change before it. We haven't set a price tag because we haven't discussed this [Fekir's transfer] yet".

Fekir has also drawn interest from Chelsea and Bayern Munich, but Liverpool have been aggressive in chasing his signature.
