  • Apple hits hard on privacy, Memoji in new iOS update

It's set up a lot like Bitmoji but takes the magic of Animoji live face-tracking to deliver some very fun and diverse experiences that can live in messages or can be directly transposed on your face through the camera app.

While introducing this feature to the world, Apple made a decision to show Facebook apps as an example, which is amusing because they could have chosen any other app. Apple also showcased a new system that makes it more hard to gather information about users as they browse across the web.

Facebook's privacy practices were called into question once again recently when a report claimed that the company had provided sensitive user data to at least 60 device makers, including the likes of Apple and Samsung.

"With "Screen Time", these new tools are empowering users who want help managing their device time, and balancing the many things that are important to them", Federighi said. Users can pick which apps are allowed during downtime, or override the setting with a passcode should he or she need access to an app for some reason.

Since then, we have seen a decisive move by institutions like the European Union, which passed the General Data Protection Regulation which imposes stiff penalties on companies that violate its stipulations against personal data use.

SHAPIRO: So what did Tim Cook say about this New York Times report that Apple may have had access to personal data collected by Facebook?

As is its wont, Apple previewed the next version of its iOS mobile operating system during this week's Worldwide Developers Conference, and while it offers a number of new features and capabilities, a few in particular reflect broader trends in the mobile industry.

Siri will also suggest that users turn off some notifications if the user hasn't opened the app in a while.

According to Apple, group FaceTime will become available when iOS 12 is rolled out.

"Privacy means people know what they're signing up for, in plain English and repeatedly", Jobs said.

While the App Store Connect app is Apple's new app for developers, the features part of it can still be found in the iTunes Connect app.
