  • Leaked Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL screen protectors confirm notch and stereo speakers

Google is now working on the Pixel 3 devices internally, post which the mass production of the smartphones will commence. Traditionally, Google would go to companies like LG to manufacture their devices, but this year it's thinking of Foxconn as a potential manufacturer. A report from Bloomberg claims that Foxconn will be the manufacturer for the Pixel 3 and details several aspects of the phone's new design.

The Pixel 3 XL, as seen in that previous leak, will include "two camera lenses on the front of the phone inside of the notch".

At the rear, however, both Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL will have upgraded, but single-lens cameras. These phones, likely to be called Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL, will arrive this October - about a month after the next iPhone is set to appear - as Verizon exclusives in the US. Google and HTC already worked on several Nexus and Pixel devices so we won't be surprised if the tech giant will already settle with HTC producing its phones.

The iPhone X has a notch to house the front-facing camera which powers its FaceID system, the cool facial recognition system that unlocks the gadget by scanning its owner's face. In January, Google acquired parts of HTC Corp., and the engineering talent it got in the deal is heavily involved in the hardware and software development of the new devices, one of the people said.

Millions of gadget fans around the world are waiting anxiously for Google to take the wraps off of its next-generation Pixel phones. The new Pixel is also said to highlight the notch this time especially on the XL variant. Are you interested in the Pixel 3 or Pixel 3 XL?

That notch, as we've seen on other handsets like the iPhone X, OnePlus 6, and LG G7 ThinQ, will be used to accommodate the front-facing sensors and such that, for the moment, there's no other place for in a "bezelless" design. Android P is explicitly created to allow developers to build content around notches, so the focus appears to be on using software to avoid the design issue rather than building rectangular hardware. If a leaked image is to be believed, it seems the answer is yes-but only on the Pixel 3 XL.
