Liverpool are closing in on the signing of Brazil midfielder Fabinho from Monaco as a replacement for Emre Can as Jürgen Klopp steps up his summer recruitment drive.

The 24-year-old, a four-time Brazil worldwide, has spent the past five seasons in Ligue 1, helping Monaco to the title in 2016-17.

While a club badge, a header which reads "Player Contract Agreement" and bullet points were added to the paper, the content is actually just a news piece which covered manager Jurgen Klopp's quotes on last weekend's Champions League final. Hopefully, on a personal level, I'm able to win titles with this club.

Fekir has been a key player for Lyon in recent years and enjoyed another superb campaign last season that saw him provide an impressive 23 goals and 8 assists in his 40 appearances in all competitions. Interestingly, the move was pushed through by his agency Gestifute who are owned by renowned "super agent" Jorge Mendes.

Fabinho becomes Liverpool's first summer signing along with Naby Keita, who is due to arrive at the club, but the deal had been in place since last summer.

"I know he's a fantastic person, his background is from nice people".

"Unfortunately, occasionally I get some yellow cards for that but I think that won't be a problem here".

"We are hugely proud that a natural talent we developed is in the national squad and I will be at the match tonight when he will play for France", said Aulas.

"He can be a holding midfielder, he can be versatile and you can play him in other positions like at full-back".

After establishing himself as a regular, Fabinho signed permanently for Monaco in 2015.

The combo will be precious in Liverpool's style of play and for Klopp's aspirations next season. Breaking up play, reading the game and protecting his back four might be Fabinho's principal job but he can also play when he gets the ball.
