It has been a disappointing start to the Western Conference Finals for Golden State Warriors G Stephen Curry.

The Houston Rockets were blown off the floor in Game 1 but they bounced back in fine fashion in a 127-105 win in Game 2.

Only, it wasn't the James Harden, Chris Paul, and Clint Capela version of the big three. "I had some decent looks from 3 that could have changed the momentum of the game of the game early in the first half".

"They were more settled tonight and they hit timely shots", Durant said.

The Houston crowd were loud and proud in game two as the Rockets pulled off an emphatic win over the Warriors. Curry will look to bounce back after making just one of eight three-point attempts in Game 2 while the rest of the role players will step up at home so I'm expecting a much closer contest. Kevin Durant did his best to shoulder the scoring burden as he finished with 38 points on 13 of 22 shooting, while Stephen Curry chipped in with 16 points and seven assists, but no other player scored more than eight points. Eric Gordon hit two big 3s and that kind of settled them in.

"For us right now the most important game is game three", Paul said.

And they did that by disconnecting the Warriors' own motion attack on defense, switching everything and forcing bad shots and turnovers to get out in transition. He finished with 16 points but never established the remarkable range that can stretch opposing defenses to the breaking point.

Rockets coach Mike D'Antoni said the effort showed why his team are the top seed.

"Obviously it wasn't Steph's best night", Kerr said.

"I'm not anxious about Steph", Kerr said.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr said the Rockets' energy made all the difference.

"We got outplayed the whole game ... we got it handed to us", Kerr said.

His 16 points - on the heels of an 18-point performance in Game 1 - marked the first time Curry has failed to reach at least 20 points in consecutive playoff games since the 2016 NBA Finals, when he was nursing a knee injury. The loss snapped a 10-game winning streak in such games.

Gordon came off the bench to make six 3-pointers, Tucker tied a playoff best with five and Harden added three. "You can look at it any way you want. and parcel it out, but it didn't matter who we had out there tonight we got beat".

They led 64-50 by halftime, with four players already in double figures as they stepped up the pace and tightened the defensive screws. The Warriors cut it to 74-64 with five quick points from Durant, but the Rockets opened it back up to 89-72 when Gordon made an off-balance layup before crashing to the court while being fouled and made the free throw.

The Rockets are good, but they can not keep up with a Warriors team that is locked on the defensive end, getting easy offense from Durant (there's no reason to think that'll stop anytime soon), and a full-fledged Curry performance.
