Tim Allen Sitcom 'Last Man Standing' to Get Reboot after Controversial Cancellation

  • Fox whose studio counterpart owns the series, is in early talks to bring the show back for a seventh season a year after ABC's surprising cancellation

LMS just might be a reality", Allen wrote in a recent tweet."Keep it up.

"There's nothing more risky to me, especially in this climate, than a amusing, likable conservative", Allen told the "Norm Macdonald Live" podcast. While there were some issues stemming from the relationship between the network and the studio 20th Century Fox TV, many fans have theorized that the conservative nature of the series and its star led to it concluding earlier than expecting.

"They heard all your voices people!" the longtime comedian tweeted.

Of course, here's the irony to all of us: ABC now has Roseanne, a series featuring a heavy Donald Trump supporter in Roseanne Barr who has drawn far more attention for her political beliefs than Allen ever did.

The show was a staple of ABC's programming for six seasons before it was cancelled last spring.

"There's nothing more unsafe to me, especially in this climate, than a amusing, likable conservative", Allen said while discussing the show's cancellation in an interview past year.

Even in its sixth season, the show was the second-highest rated sitcom on ABC, making it's cancellation something of a surprise, and the reasons behind the decision were somewhat complex. Two of the key Last Man Standing series regulars, Nancy Travis and Hector Elizondo, are tied to other multi-camera comedies at the moment.

20th Century Fox Television declined to comment.

ABC denied politics played a role in the cancellation.

"There is nothing more risky, especially in this climate, than a amusing, likable conservative character", Allen previously said about his character on the show.

ABC placed the fantasy drama Once Upon a Time in the Friday time slot that Last Man Standing once dominated.
