If you have a 13-inch MacBook Pro that lacks the Touch Bar and was made between October 2016 and October 2017, Apple is replacing the battery in some of the machines.

The company said this is not a safety issue and it will replace batteries in affected units at no charge. They announced the marriage to the manufacturer and received a promise for a free replacement battery.

Apple narrowed the component flaw down to a batch of MacBook Pro units produced between October 2016 and October 2017 and subsequently sold throughout the world. However, Apple didn't reveal the actual number of MacBooks that have been affected by the issue. This issue is not present on older 13-inch MacBook Pro models or the 13-inch MacBook Pros with Touch Bar.

The program's webpage has a built-in serial number checker for immediate confirmation on whether your device is covered. To check if your MacBook Pro is eligible for this, you will need to enter in your MacBook Pro's serial number on Apple's support page and hit submit.

Apple says that the servicing may take 3-5 working days. You will need to get in touch with Apple Support for that. Once you've determined that your device is at risk, you can choose to find an Apple Authorized Service Provider, make an appointment at an Apple Retail Store, or mail your notebook to the Apple Repair Center.

The customers who have already paid for the battery replacement will be eligible for a refund, Apple said.
