Apple reportedly working on iPhone touchless gesture controls

  • You're not crazy: The Instagram app just disappeared from Apple Watch

Earlier this week, a report from Bloomberg claimed that Apple is considering future iPhone models with "hover" gestures and curved screens.

In a way, the touchless gesture controls will be similar to the 3D Touch feature that has been part of Apple's iPhones for the past few years. The latter company may start production as soon as this year, working on panels for the Apple Watch and even a rumored augmented reality headset. The features are in the developmental and trial stages, this means it will take at least three to five years for the technology to come in iPhone. In an attempt to leave their competitors in the dust, Apple is working on new technology that will make iPhone's absolutely irresistible. The curves will presumably be a lot more noticeable than the slightly curved display on the bottom of the iPhone X.

Gesture controls have been around in popular phones since Samsung's Galaxy S4, yet we haven't ever seen them in use out in the wild; probably because you'd look a bit like a Harry Potter film reject attempting to levitate or transform your phone.

The report, published Wednesday, says Apple is looking into these radical changes in order to differentiate in the crowded smartphone market. A simple wave of a hand across the screen would let the user take calls and flip through web-pages. Gurman indicated that the company is developing a new "touchless gesture control" and a curved screen for the future iPhone models. One source said, "Unlike Samsung's smartphone screen, the new iPhone screen curves inwards from top to bottom".

A faulty connection in the RFPCB module was also cited as the key reason behind the so-called "frozen" iPhone X whose OLED screen would become unresponsive or inaccurate in cold weather. This technology would be built directly into the display without the need for a motion sensor. The Beta Software Program allows anyone with a working Apple ID to try pre-release software for free.

Apple has always been a unique favorite to many people. Samsung plans to launch its Wall MicroLED TV this coming August, and LG Display is also expected to unveil a large-screen microLED TV latr this year.
