No One Is Buying Laura Ingraham's Apology to Parkland Survivor David Hogg

The latest episode of these attacks was witnessed on Twitter last Wednesday when Fox News anchor, Laura Ingraham, shared an article of The Daily Wire and mocked that four universities rejected the 17-year-old, despite his student record.

After Ingraham's comment, Hogg posted on Twitter a list of the show's top 12 advertisers, encouraging people to contact those on the list to encourage them to pull their ads.

Ingraham apologized in a tweet the following day, citing "the spirit of Holy Week", and invited Hogg to appear on her show.

In response to her apology, Hogg also retweeted one of his sister, Lauren Hogg's tweets in which she suggests the apology lacked a certain sincerity coming, as it did, after advertisers began to bail.

David Hogg made clear to Ingraham he not will accept her apology until she denounces "the way your network has treated my friends and I in this fight" describing it as "mudslinging at children".

Hogg told CNN in an interview on Friday that he doesn't plan to accept her apology.

"As a company, we support open dialogue and debate on issues", Wayfair public relations director Jane Carpenter told CNBC.

And Hulu tweeted, "We are no longer advertising on Laura Ingraham's show and are monitoring all of our ad placements carefully". Ingraham fans took to social media to call for boycotts of the companies that moved to pull their ads, launching the hashtag #IStandWithLaura. With that size of an audience and following - Ingraham is also a longtime radio host - advertisers could find her program hard to ignore in the future.

A rep for TripAdvisor reportedly said, "In our view, these statements focused on a high school student, cross the line of decency".

Several companies - including the Rachael Ray-partnered dog food brand Nutrish, the travel site TripAdvisor and the streaming service Hulu - have indicated that they will no longer advertise on her show.

She added that Hogg was "Dinged by UCLA with a 4.1 GPA.totally predictable given acceptance rates".

Ingraham apologized to Hogg on Thursday on Twitter, and said any high school student should be proud to earn a 4.2 GPA.

Hogg, who has been one of the most prominent voices in a student-led campaign against gun violence that emerged in the wake of the shooting, then went after her advertisers. She has her own television show. It's worthwhile to identify precisely which social norm Ingraham violated. But I also didn't think this young man could send such fear into the corridors of Fox News, so ...

In November, Fox's Sean Hannity stoked controversy by supporting Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore despite reports of Moore's sexual advances toward teenage girls.
