  • Mega Millions has only topped $500 million four

No tickets matched all six numbers drawn in Tuesday night's drawing. Those ticket holders won $1 million each, according to ABC News.

Two other people can also claim millionaire status now after two tickets, one sold in OH and the other in Texas, matched the five white balls to win $1 million apiece. Illinois Lottery officials say the state lost about $4 million by halting sales of Powerball and Mega Millions tickets because of budget stalemate.

The Mega Millions jackpot is big - half a billion big. Here's everything you need to know about tonight's jackpot drawing including the cut-off time and how to buy tickets.

The next Lotto 47 drawing is also Saturday night, March 31 at 7:29 p.m. with a jackpot of $1.2 million.

"Jackpot rolls are always exciting, but surpassing the $500 million mark for only the fourth time is a historic milestone", Gordon Medenica, Mega Millions lead director and Maryland Lottery gaming director, said in a press release. The cash value option would provide the victor with a one-time, lump-sum payment that for tonight's estimated jackpot is $317 million.

"I'll start a auto lot", Nelson said.

Friday's 11 pm ET jackpot drawing was for the tenth largest prize ever offered in the United States. The prize is now worth $521 million, with a cash payout of $317 million before taxes.
