He also said that they had delivered 112 food packs for families who fled terror, seeking shelter.

On Monday, the Pentagon voiced concern that Turkey's military drive could further weaken the battle against Islamic State in southern Syria, where Syrian Kurdish fighters form the backbone of the US -led campaign.

Turkey's disaster management agency and military on Tuesday distributed food aid to civilians in 35 villages of Afrin, Syria recently liberated during the counter-terrorist Operation Olive Branch. Those areas are controlled by US -backed Syrian Kurdish forces, and USA troops are stationed there.

On Jan. 20, Turkey launched Operation Olive Branch to clear YPG/PKK and Daesh terrorists from Afrin.

Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said earlier that Turkish and Iraqi armies would carry out a joint offensive against the PKK bases in northern Iraq, probably after Iraqi elections set for May 12.

The Kurdish militia say they will hold Russian Federation as well as Turkey responsible for the attacks.

Speaking at a ceremony at the presidential complex, Erdogan said: "Afrin's town center has been taken under control".

"We need to stand in unity and solidarity and this is how it was during the Afrin operation", he said.

"Our security forces and Free Syrian Army member brethren will continue their operations for a while longer", said the Turkish president.

"The takeover of Afrin is a triumph for Erdogan domestically but it comes at very high cost for Turkey's global image and its relationship with key partners", Wolfango Piccoli, co-founder of Teneo Intelligence in London, said in an email on Tuesday.

Ankara began its offensive in January against the YPG, which it says is allied with the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) waging an insurgency against Turkey since 1984.

Damascus has on several occasions criticized Ankara for its military offensive on Syrian soil, accusing it of supporting "terrorist" groups.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan vowed on Monday to further expand military operations against Kurdish militants in Syria to its eastern parts such as Manbij and Ayn al-Arab or Kobani. More than 1,500 Kurdish combattants have been killed over the past two months, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitor.

However, Manning indicated that the US would not leave Manbij or abandon support for the SDF.
