Unlike other auto makers that have reluctantly given in to China's demands, Tesla wants to own a factory outright. Highway sightings of the trucks going about their business started popping up last month, just a little more than three months after Musk unveiled the prototype at a glitzy Southern California shindig. There is no exact arrival date for the said auto technology though Musk previously announced that it will be released sometime in early 2018, meaning it may be just around the corner. All Tesla wanted was a fair outcome, "ideally where tariffs/rules are equally moderate". That's from Elon, but everyone knows it. Meaning, same import duties, ownership constraints & other factors.

Trump was quick to lap up the criticism, saying that USA politicians had known this for years but did nothing.

Musk continued the thread by stating that the current discrepancy between the US and China's tariffs on cars makes things "very difficult" and is like "competing in an Olympic race wearing lead shoes".

While this first delivery run of electric vehicle battery packs, via the two Tesla Semi Truck prototypes seen below, doesn't probably amount to much on its own as regarding the reduction of logistics costs, but it does represent a sign of things to come.

As we reported in November, the major source of this disruption will centre around operating costs, which Tesla has said will deliver savings of $US200,000 over diesel trucks over one million miles.

"We send our vehicle over there, pay 25 percent. Nothing more. Hope this does not seem unreasonable".

Musk further noted that USA companies are prohibited from owning a majority share of their Chinese production factories but that there are many Chinese owned automotive factories in the United States.

The California-based automaker doubled its sales to over $2 billion in China previous year.

The said new technology for Tesla cars are being hailed by Musk himself as cutting-edge and quite possibly more advanced than any existing system.
