  • Android smartphone users, this Google feature will make your camera better

Photos might be one of the most beloved Google apps and services and it's always awesome to see how smart it is at parsing people, pets, things, and locations.

Here is our first hands-on experience with the Google Lens Preview for Android. For example, you're in an unfamiliar place and want to know more about a landmark in front of you, just open your Lens on Google Photos and it will give you what you need to know.

On Monday, March 5, Google announced expanded features for Google Lens inside Google Photos on Android. Having more than one lens on a device has enabled manufacturers to make features like better bokeh effects, higher zoom capabilities or stereo vision to smartphones, but in the past the streams from the different lens have essentially been treated as one.

Google seems to be firmly focusing on its AI and Machine learning by introducing this Lens feature to all the Android phones via Google Photos app.

Google has announced that it is rolling out Google Lens to all Android users that run Google Photos app on their devices. Inside Lens the camera will identify popular landmarks, using, Google search to provide data like a description and even the hours of operation. This AI technology is used to get information on objects, buildings and products.

The app will come with support for other Google services such as Google Maps and more.

Google is officially rolling out Lens to Android users, who use Google Photos. Pixel 2 devices will also have support for Qualcomm's Hexagon HVX driver, giving developers further improvements in performance on those devices. "A new window layout attribute, layoutInDisplayCutoutMode, lets you tell the system how and when lay out your content relative to the cutout area". Besides this, Google also rolled out a new option to share pictures from Google Photos by using "Add partner account".

The first developer preview for Google's Android P update arrived on Wednesday, allowing people to prepare their apps for the 2018 update.
