  • A video posted by model Nastya Rybka led to a Kremlin opposition investigation into a minister's meeting with an oligarch

Russian Federation ordered a ban on access to opposition leader Alexey Navalny's website and warned Alphabet Inc.'s YouTube to comply with demands to remove videos showing billionaire Oleg Deripaska on a yacht with a deputy prime minister and a woman described as an escort.

Mr. Navalny used Ms. Vashukevich's material to compile a video investigation, posted last week, claiming that the trip was a bribe from Mr. Deripaska to Mr. Prikhodko, that Ms. Vashukevich was a high-class escort and that she was one of "several" prostitutes aboard the yacht.

The Google-owned video sharing giant has responded by threatening to delete the open source videos and Instagram posts that form the backbone of Navalny's inquiry.

The Krasnodar region court ordered Navalny's team to remove seven YouTube videos and 14 Instagram posts by today, saying they breached Deripaska's right to privacy, The Moscow Times reports.

Deripaska filed suit following Navalny's investigation, accusing Vashukevich of illegally using private images.

Deripaska has been linked to President Donald Trump's former campaign chairman Paul Manafort, who has been indicted in US special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 USA election. Russian Federation banned Navalny from running in next month's presidential election. He also quoted from her book "A Journal: How to Seduce a Billionaire" - in which, according to Navalny, Rybka refers to Deripaska as "Ruslan" and Prikhodko as "Papa".

A court in Ust-Labinsk, a town in southern Russian Federation where Mr. Deripaska went to school and where he pays some of his taxes, then ordered news media outlets and social media platforms, including Instagram and YouTube, to remove the offending material.

The regulator warned that it would take action if he did not remove material alleging Deripaska engaged in unethical behavior by meeting with a Russian deputy prime minister on a yacht in 2016.

Roskomnadzor announced around midday on February 14 that "nearly 30 resources" had deleted Navalny's video from their sites.

Rybka's posts relating to the allegations were no longer accessible on Instagram on Wednesday, but Navalny's 25-minute YouTube video - that has racked up more than five million hits since it was posted last week - was still available.

Russian communications watchdog Roskomnadzor included the materials on its register of blacklisted sites following the court order.

On February 15, Alexey Navalny said Roskomnadzor had blocked access to his website in Russian Federation. "More interestingly the investigation exposes a potential secret communication channel linking President Trump's campaign-Paul Manafort- Oleg Deripaska-and the Russian government", said Roman Borisovich, the supervisory board member of the Russian Anti-Corruption Foundation, in an email to Fast Company.
