  • NBA trade rumors Cavs' offer for De Andre Jordan unlikely to move needle for Clippers

The Cleveland Cavaliers need to make a move, and their sights appear to be set on Los Angeles Clippers center DeAndre Jordan.

To get around having to part with Brooklyn's pick, which was acquired from the Boston Celtics in the Kyrie Irving trade, the Cleveland Cavaliers have reportedly enlisted a third team.

Jordan has a $24 million player option next season that he seems likely to decline to become a free agent.

Jordan could help Toronto win the Eastern Conference this season if results go their way, especially if you take into account how much the Cavaliers have been struggling.

Los Angeles has had Jordan on the block for most of the deadline and multiple teams have been connected to him.

ESPN's Zach Lowe reported that the Houston Rockets, Milwaukee Bucks, Portland Trail Blazers, and Washington Wizards have all explored the trade market around Jordan. "If somebody else doesn't jump into the fray, there is a good chance that the Clippers will just keep Jordan for the rest of the season and ultimately let him expire off their cap".

However, diving into free agency may be a gamble for Jordan. However, that hasn't stopped the Cavs from calling them about Jordan.

Additionally, plenty of contending teams can use a player with Jordan's rim protecting skills. He's an elite rebounder and finisher around the basket, but possesses few of the other skills teams around the National Basketball Association covet in players - shooting, passing, the ability to maneuver off the dribble.

Jordan, now 29 years of age, has heard his name tossed about in several trade scenarios in recent days.

Sam Amick of USA Today indicates that the Cavaliers offered their own first-round pick to the Clippers for Jordan, along with veterans Tristan Thompson and J.R. Smith. The Clippers said no.
