Andre Drummond replacing John Wall in All-Star game

  • Ben Simmons All Star hopes revived

Drummond's selection was made by National Basketball Association commissioner Adam Silver, who chooses replacements from the same conference as the player being replaced.

Now Detroit Pistons center Drummond is set to take Wall's place on Team LeBron James, it was confirmed on Tuesday.

A person with direct knowledge of the injury has told the Associated Press that Wall could miss six to eight weeks.

Coincidentally, all three were to play on the team picked by LeBron.

While Drummond's analysis of the Celtic offense may be a little off (Brown's 11.3 attempts per game are second among all Boston options), it seems perfectly reasonable to suggest that Drummond (averaging a double-double, with 14.8 points and 15.3 rebounds per game, this season) was the more deserving of the two.

In the end, he went with a player who has improved by leaps and bounds over last season, especially on the offensive side of the floor.

Because Wall was representing the Eastern Conference, his replacement must be from that side also, hence why Lou Williams wasn't upset this time around.

After missing out on initial selection despite a high fan vote, Simmons' hopes of becoming the first Australian All-Star have again been dashed after being overlooked for Detroit centre Drummond.

Draymond Green said Celtics guard Jaylen Brown should have been the replacement.

After Drummond was initially left out of this year's All-Star game, he posted to his Twitter account: "Guess I gotta start doing back flips after every point I score to get attention around here!"

To say Andre Drummond wasn't happy to be an All-Star snub is an understatement.

Newly acquired Pistons forward Blake Griffin tweeted out his congratulations for Drummond.
