Apple will launch three new iPhones this year, including its largest yet

The departure of the original iPhone X is likely to be filled well with the new versions that KGI's Ming-Chi Kuo previous year specified as 6.5-inch OLED and 6.1-inch LCD models.

Apple has reportedly slashed its production target for the iPhone X by 50 percent following poor holiday sales. The combined impact on suppliers that make the components for the iPhone X will run supposedly reach into the billions of dollars.

Looking forward, the lackluster sales could result in a delay to the company's plans to introduce OLED screens in other iPhone models.

Ming-Chi reports that all three of these newer iPhone X's will have bigger batteries, but there will be some options missing from the iPhone X SE device. It will also be a setback for Samsung's display business, which has enjoyed strong performance so far.

One of the main reasons for the iPhone X's lackluster performance seems to be the price.

When Apple launched the iPhone SE in 2016, it was notable for including the same processor as the iPhone 6S, contactless payments through Apple Pay and a better rear camera in the same design of the iPhone 5S. There are indications that the original iPhone X could reach its end of life around mid-2018 and this effective means that new iPhones could be in pipeline.

Much has been said about Apple's lineup of smartphones for 2018. Meanwhile, a DigiTimes report said that the company is gearing up for the release of not two, but four new next-generation iPhone models. Typically, Q4 is a very good quarter for iPhone sales. This could also slow the shift by display manufacturers from LCD to OLED technology.

The group also asked Apple to lay down their concrete plans to address the matter in relation to the affected iPhone users in China.

Apple will be holding their financial conference call this Thursday and until then are under a legally required "quite period" at this time.
