  • Wenger said Aubameyang who could cost the Gunners £53m would be a'good fit at Arsenal

Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund continue to issue hands-off warnings to Arsenal regarding the Gunners pursuit of striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Alexis Sanchez may be on his way out of Arsenal, but the club found goals easy to come by on Saturday thanks largely to the unlikely figure of Nacho Monreal.

As the January window hovered into view, however, Aubameyang began acting out again, falling out with new Dortmund boss Peter Stoger having failed to turn up at a recent team meeting.

And Express Sport understands that Arsenal's next offer will come close to matching Dortmund's asking price in a hope of pushing the deal through.

Although Wenger has hinted at there being no progress made for Aubameyang, a return offer for the seemingly wantaway forward could change that in the coming days.

"We still plan with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang", he told Eurosport.

On Friday, while his club was drawing in Berlin, Aubameyang played a kick-about game indoors with his friends in Dortmund.

"At some point you can't tolerate it any more", the club's sporting director Michael Zorc said this week.

Aubameyang spotted the tweet and responded, saying: "Bla bla bla next step is the jail you don't know nothing so take care of you! not me".

The Gabon worldwide, who has scored 13 league goals this season, was suspended for last week's goalless draw against VfL Wolfsburg after missing a team meeting the day before.

While Arsenal are claimed to be confident they can land Aubameyang, they feel the deal could drag on.

Alexandre Lacazette, Alex Iwobi, Nacho Monreal and Laurent Koscielny all got on the scoresheet as Arsenal dispelled talk of a frustrating afternoon without their talismanic forward.

Asked whether a character like Aubameyang would fit in at Arsenal, Wenger responded: 'Yes, because character can be very positive and very negative.
