Kanye was on cloud nine at the studio as we congratulated him on his newborn daughter's "superstar" name Chicago West, and the rapper is clearly thrilled that his baby girl's moniker is a nod to his beloved hometown.

Ashley Boice, also in Chicago, said she isn't surprised by the unusual name.

Chicago West joins the famous couple's other two children North West and Saint West. She appears to be a healthy baby, weighing 7 pounds, 6 ounces.

The reality TV star announced the news on social media on Friday following the child's birth, via surrogate, on Monday morning.

Kardashian West ranks 47 on Forbes' celebrity 100 ranking of highest-paid entertainers with pretax earnings of $45.5 million.

People reports that Kardashian is making sure her elder children feel the love after the birth of their baby sister.

West was raised in the United States city Chicago.

Kardashian posted their daughter's name on Twitter with a simple tweet that read, "Chicago West".

The name reveal comes five days after the couple announced the arrival of their third child, whom they welcomed via a surrogate.

'Kanye and I are happy to announce the arrival of our healthy, attractive baby girl, ' the reality TV star wrote on Monday.

"I'm so grateful for modern technology and that this is even possible", she wrote on Thursday.

The family has announced that they'll call their baby girl Chi (pronounced "shy") for short.

She has since posted more details about her decision not to go through with another high-risk pregnancy, explaining: "Preeclampsia and placenta accreta are high-risk conditions, so when I wanted to have a third baby, doctors said that it wasn't safe for my - or the baby's - health to carry on my own".

"Khloe's really cool. I think her and her guy are going to find a really cool name", Boice said.
