WhatsApp has launched a new service WhatsApp Business, aimed at small businesses that have thus far been using their accounts meant for individuals, a move that brings it closer to monetising its free platform. The company has highlighted few benefits about the application on its official blog. There will also be access to message statistics so businesses can review what is working for them. And the app only offers general analytics, such as how many messages have been sent, delivered, read and received.

The businesses will have Confirmed Accounts by verifying the account's phone number with business phone number.

We have been hearing of WhatsApp Business app since August past year, and later in September, the Facebook-owned company finally announced the WhatsApp Business app for small and medium businesses.

Currently, the WhatsApp Business app is only available for Android but the company has confirmed that it will be rolled out for other platforms soon.

WhatsApp Business is launching as a free-to-download Android app in Indonesia, Italy, Mexico, the United Kingdom and USA, with plans for a worldwide release in the coming weeks.

However concerns have already been raised that WhatsApp is actually looking to make a lot of money from the new app by charging larger enterprises for more advanced features.

WhatsApp Business app plans to make it simpler for smaller businesses to connect with the customers. You can also list your useful information such as a business description, email or store addresses, and website. They can block any business or even report them as spam. "What we saw was a need for businesses to have more efficient tools", Idema said in an interview with Reuters.
