'Shithole' projection onto Trump's DC Hotel

  • The Trump Hotel in Washington D.C. has been the site of previous projected wording critical of the president

After lawmakers raised the issue of protections for immigrants from African nations, Haiti and El Salvador, the president reportedly demanded to know why the U.S. should accept immigrants from 's***hole countries, ' rather than - for instance - wealthy and overwhelmingly white Norway.

Guests and passersby alike were stunned to see the word "s***hole" projected in huge letters onto the Trump International Hotel in Washington DC Saturday night.

Bell has previously projected criticism of the president onto the hotel, according to The Washington Post.

And now the message "NOT A DC RESIDENT?"

"This place is a shithole" was projected onto the front steps of the hotel, as an apparent response to the reports about Trump's shithole remarks.

The art work was created in reaction to Trump's alleged comments during a meeting regarding immigration with Congressional leaders at the White House.

The Post reported that Robin Bell, who posted images Saturday's protest on Twitter, was behind the projection. Also projected on the building were things like "pay Trump bribes here". "(Both of those messages also appear in the most recent projection.) That same month, Bell projected "#SessionsMustGo" and "I thought the KKK was OK until I learned that they smoked pot" on the Department of Justice building, in reference to Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

Trump has faced intense backlash for calling Haiti, El Salvador and African nations "shithole countries" during an Oval Office meeting on immigration this week.

Although the president and a few of his allies later denied that those words were said, others in the room have sworn that the president did indeed use the harsh language attributed to him.

"You can not dismiss entire countries and continents as 's***holes, ' whose entire populations, who are not white, are therefore not welcome".
