Not only has Mariah proved that she is courageous by gracing the 2018 New Year's Rockin' Eve stage after having a hard performance in 2017, but she kicked off the first meme for 2018.

"Happy New Year!" she told the crowds before adding: "They told me there would be tea".

"Oh! It's a disaster!" After, there was an awkward moment where she said something about hot tea and that she would rough it without her hot tea.

Britney Spears was zooming through choreography that lesser performers would pass out attempting, and she kept that energy going well past midnight.

The pop superstar performed at Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve 2017, in a now-infamous performance that was filled with technical difficulties.

"Oh, I'm feeling a lot better than previous year, when I had to get my own police escort to walk away", Carey said, after Seacrest asked how she was feeling.

Carey was invited back to Rockin' Eve despite last year's disastrous performance, when tech glitches threw her off a lip-syncing track she was following. The action starts at 8:00 p.m. EST and goes on past New Year's Eve with an end time of 2:13 a.m. Mariah Carey will be returning to perform this year in Times Square along with Nick Jonas, Camila Cabello, and Sugarland.

The singer showed just a hint of her diva reputation after her first song. "They told me there would be tea. Ugh".

The singer then launched into her 1993 ballad Hero with backup singers in white robes behind her.

She was reportedly paid $3.5 million for her performance, which lasted around ten minutes.

Many people, some fans included, were surprised that she was even offered a second chance this year.
