  • Padmavati to be finally certified by CBFC but some conditions apply

Sanjay Leela Bhansali has been asked to add a disclaimer to the film stating the source and other references to the film and change the title to "Padmavat" while removing over 26 shots.

Nihalani, on Saturday, was commenting on the recent developments, wherein the CBFC suggested few modifications in the controversial movie, including changing of the film's title to "Padmavat", after which it would be given a UA certificate. The first and the major change is that the film's name must be changed to Padmavat instead of Padmavati!

The reports said the Examining Committee of CBFC viewed the film on Dec 28 and altered its title from Padmavati to Padmavat. The special panel consisted of Arvind Singh from Udaipur, Dr Chandramani Singh and professor K.K. Singh of Jaipur University. "Members of the committee formed to review the film have opposed it but censor board is taking this decision due to underworld pressure", Gogamedi said.

Padmavati is based on the legend of Rani Padmini of Chittor and Rajput groups said the film wrongly showcases a romantic relationship between the queen and Muslim emperor Alauddin Khilji, Xinhua news agency reported yesterday.

The film, which was to release on December 1, has been embroiled in controversy over alleged distortion of facts regarding Rajput history, with Rajput outfits and some backed by the BJP, actively protesting its release.

The film's final 3D application was submitted on November 28, the CBFC said.

We have to see what will Bhansali do finally, while Deepika Padukone, Ranvir Singh and Shahid Kapoor moved to their next projects already but waiting to promote this film.

Modifications in the song "Ghoomar" to make the depiction befitting the character being portrayed.

The Bollywood film, which was slated to be released on December 1, was indefinitely postponed by a studio run by a partnership of Viacom and Network 18 owned by Mumbai's Reliance Industries. According to CBFC they were in agreement with the modifications.

End of Controversy?Prasoon Joshi tells DNA that there are no cuts suggested.

Despite Bhansali claiming that no historical facts have been tampered with, the hue and cry around the film did not mitigate.
