The Salvation Army in Decatur is seeing a shortfall in its annual Red Kettle fundraising trailing by $18,000 compared to the same time-period in 2016.

By 11 a.m., fewer than 20 bicycles remained and very few bags of toys and food.

In fact, with only nine days left in the holiday campaign, they need $17,000 to reach their goal.

Anyone wishing to volunteer can contact their local Salvation Army.

We have provided direct link to give online. The App allows donors to select a Christmas kettle in their community by scanning a QR code or by using an interactive map.

"Last year we've had nearly 7,000 children that received toys as a part of the hamper program and we expect the need will be just as great", said Anne Marie DeCicco-Best, London's former mayor and the chair of the Salvation Army's kettle campaign. Brian Burkett, corps commander of the Topeka Salvation Army, on Thursday morning.

On Thanksgiving Day, the Salvation Army served over 200 meals in Altus at the 7th Annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner and anticipate serving just as many meals at the Christmas Dinner in Hollis coming up on December 21. So we have to pay people to stay [with kettles], although some people volunteer, but not everybody volunteers. "We try to find local organizations in need of help and support, so that's what we are doing here today by helping with the hampers".

"It makes me feel good, and it makes me feel happy", she said. The Salvation Army also has a worldwide presence in 127 countries around the globe. The Houston Salvation Army thrift store is still accepting donations and the can be dropped off at 3429 10 Street.

On Friday, families will stop by the Salvation Army Warehouse to collect their holiday gifts.

"That does not include the staff that we have, which is 24 hours a day, that we pay and provide for their meals because they live there (the Nest Children's Home)".
