  • Google Maps will soon tell you when it's time to get off your train or bus

Once you search and locate transit directions, you can press on that "start" button you see on the screen. The new update might be a small one, but is really essential in a person's journey.

What's especially interesting is that this functionality will also give you notifications when you are approaching a stop. The feature, which was first tested and subsequently released in California, is an air quality map that shows users concentration levels of different unsafe particles on city roads.

According to the Tech Crunch report, which seems to be based on insider-information, these updates would appear in the app, but also on the lock screen, allowing you to keep track of your current location at a glance.

The feature will also offer live updates, including reminders to get off your bus or train when you are nearly at your stop.

Places like a cafe, church, museum, zoo or hospital will have a designated color and icon to make it easier for users to find what they're looking for.

A NIFTY upcoming feature on Google Maps will let you know when you need to get off the bus.

The update comes just two weeks after Google announced at its recent event that it was going for two-wheeler customised navigation on Google Maps- under it, two-wheeler drivers will get the fastest route to reach their destination.

Google made a cheat sheet of the new colors and icons to help users become acquainted with the new look.

Google Maps could soon be implementing layers that highlight air quality levels in cities around the world.

The new wait time feature will be supported on almost a million sit-down restaurant listings across the globe and will challenge a number of third-party apps.
