President Donald Trump's history of accusations of sexual misconduct will resurface Monday, with NBC's Megyn Kelly set to interview three of his accusers on live TV.

Rachel Crooks, who accused Trump of forcibly kissing her 12 years ago when she worked as a receptionist at his Trump Tower business headquarters in NY, said lawmakers should "put aside their party affiliations and investigate Mr. Trump's history of sexual misconduct".

Holvey, a former contestent on Miss USA, said that Trump leered at the contestents and entered the womens' dressing room.

The president says he's "very happy" sexual misconduct by powerful men is being "exposed".

Mr Trump has previously denied the claims and said all 16 women were lying.

Leeds, Crooks and Holvey are sharing their stories again, in the hope that under the banner of the #MeToo movement, they will have a greater impact.

"It was heartbreaking a year ago", Holvey said. "It's just like, all right, let's try round two".

Just hours later, at a press conference at the Lexington Hotel in New York, Holvey said that lawmakers should extend the same scrutiny to Trump they did to Al Franken, the Minnesota senator who faced an ethics investigation before he resigned his seat over claims of unwanted kissing and groping.

"The investigation by Congress is probably the only thing we can ask for", said Crooks.

In a tweet on Tuesday, Trump calls the New York Democrat "lightweight" and "a total flunky for Chuck Schumer", the Senate Democratic leader.

The women said they do not think Trump will resign over the allegations but that he should be held accountable.

"President Trump has committed assault according to these women", Gillibrand told CNN.

"Women who accuse anyone should be heard", she told the CBS current affairs programme Face the Nation.

Trump could be forced to testify in court regarding the sexual misconduct allegations as part of a defamation lawsuit filed by Summer Zervos, one of his accusers, if the case is not dismissed.

Later, White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders said, "We feel these allegations have been answered" by the results of the 2016 election.

Into this maelstrom comes this re-examination of the allegations against Trump - and the President's response to them.

"The president has addressed these accusations directly and denied all of these allegations", Sanders added. The three women appeared on NBC News' Megyn Kelly Today on Monday morning to talk about their experiences with Trump.

"He was like an octopus", she said. Like Leeds's story of meeting Trump and his first wife, Ivana, at a Humane Society fundraiser in NY.

Another woman, who did not make an allegation before the election, recently came forward.
