  • Freezing temperatures and possible light snow are prompting schools to close Friday in several parishes

Around Philly the snow started several hours later than expected, and Al Cope, the science and operations officer at the National Weather Service Office in Mount Holly, says: "I would hedge toward the lower side".

Benji is the first storm to drop any measurable snow on Pensacola Airport since 2014.

The Delaware State Police have reported no major accidents at this time.

Some heavier snow bands, however, moved through the region during the day.

Temperatures will be in the 30s so it will be a wet snow. Many areas closed schools during the week.

Lake Charles to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, is under a winter weather advisory, while Jackson, Mississippi, is under a winter weather warning.

The Pinpoint Weather Team expects the snow to pick up Saturday afternoon and evening before coming to an end Sunday morning. Light snow was predicted for the South Coast of MA, and Cape Cod and the Islands were even expected to get some wet snow before it changes over to rain. Salisbury, Maryland, is expected to see the highest snow total.

Up to 8 inches has been measured in southern DE, and the National Weather Service says that some localized bands of heavy snow could bump up totals elsewhere. All routes that use a freeway or expressway will be detoured onto the access road until at least 8:00 a.m.
