According to The Hollywood Reporter, production on the movie will resume next week.

It is expected to be released in December 2018 as planned. However, Singer's version of the film was - at the time of his firing - only three weeks away from completing filming. The studio was fed up with his unexplained absences, forcing cinematographer Thomas Newton Sigel to step in as the director more often than not.

Singer was removed from the film after he did not return to his job following the Thanksgiving break.

A handful of well-rated movies and history with 20th Century Fox preceded Dexter Fletcher's appointment as director on Queen's rock band biopic Bohemian Rhapsody. With fewer than three weeks to shoot remaining, I asked Fox for some time off so I could return to the United States to deal with pressing health matters concerning one of my parents. He explained that the studio refused to give him some time off to deal with a very sick parent and with his own poor health.

Representatives from Fox have now confirmed that Fletcher, who helmed films such as Eddie the Eagle and Wild Bill, will replace Singer. This was not my decision and it was beyond my control.

Singer was reportedly sacked following rumours of erratic behaviour on set, as well as clashes with his actors, including lead star Rami Malek, who portrays Mercury in the film.

"I needed to temporarily put my health, and the health of my loved ones first", Singer said in a statement, The Wrap reported.

Joining Malek in the biopic are Gwilym Lee of Jamestown as guitarist Brian May, Ben Hardy of X-Men: Apocalypse as drummer Roger Taylor, and Joseph Mazzello of The Social Network as bassist John Deacon.
