Previously, the Soul series, including the very first Soul Edge, has been bound to consoles and arcade platforms, only ever breaking those confines to come to mobile phones. Are you excited for SoulCalibur VI, or were you never a fan of the series?
Tonight at The Game Awards 2017, Bandai Namco announced Soul Calibur 6 and it's coming to PC, PS4, and Xbox One next year. Not a lot to glean fighting system wise, beyond it being the 3D, weapons-based beat-em-up we've known for years.
"The fast and kinetic gameplay of SOULCALIBUR is on full display in SOULCALIBUR VI", said Mark Religioso, Brand Manager for BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment America Inc. This could be a new revision in the gameplay mechanic.
Interestingly, the story takes place in the 16th Century, and will actually revisit events from the original SoulCalibur in order to uncover "hidden truths".
As for that Reversal Edge system, Bandai Namco says, "Reversal Edge enables characters to clash against each other and follow-up with powerful counterattacks based on their opponent's actions". Soulcalibur VI tunes the battle, movement, and visual systems so players can execute visceral and dynamic attacks easily.
The weapons and character roster is apparently "stellar" and even more so when "combined with a simple control layout".
As we get closer to its release on Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC, whenever that is, check back here to see which fighters will be included in SoulCalibur VI!
