  • Tiger Woods comeback He's back and showing flashes of his old self

Woods got off to an incredible start as he made three birdies in the opening four holes before showing serious composure to save par on the rest of the front nine before making an eagle on the Par 5 ninth.

Woods was 1 over on the back nine with one birdie and two bogeys and now sits five shots off the lead at 7 under.

While he staggered a bit coming home, he finished the day with a 4-under-par 68 and, coupled with his opening-round 69, is at 7 under through 36 holes and in a tie for fifth.

In his first start in 10 months and only the fourth in two years following four back surgeries, the former world no. 1 didn't seem to have issues with his back and moved with his ease.

The 14-time major victor subsequently underwent spinal fusion surgery in April, his fourth back operation in the space of three years, and began the week a 40/1 outsider in the 18-man field.

Four hours of a solid round of golf lowered Woods' odds of winning the Masters from 66-1 to 33-1, according to Vegas Insider. He made five birdies and two bogies and hit seven of 13 fairways, 11 of 18 greens and had 27 putts. Those are the internal struggles I haven't had for a while. "A lot more practice, a lot more training and more tournaments".

On the back nine, he picked up three more birdies before a bogey on the 15th pegged him back again.

"I got the ball in the hole and the balls were going in, which was nice", Hoffman said in an interview with the Golf Channel. Rose had five birdies against one bogey. I really did struggle getting the speed and I blew a lot of them well past the hole and made a few coming back.

"I hadn't played in a while after some of the difficulties I've been through". So to see Tiger go out and play well doesn't surprise me.
