Gas prices have fallen 40 cents in the last three weeks

Of the 14n MI metro areas surveyed by AAA for self-serve unleaded fuel prices, the lowest average price can be found in the Saginaw area for the second week in a row, where it's about $2.39 a gallon.

In 2017, gas prices have strayed from typical trends. That's unchanged from last week.

The average price of gas across the state of MI decreased about 10 cents after the Thanksgiving weekend.

"When oil prices rise, it becomes more expensive to produce gasoline", AAA spokesman Mark Jenkins said. “Driving factors for cheaper gas prices this winter include colder temperatures, the threat of inclement weather and online shopping.”.

"AAA has tracked gas prices very closely over the years". The national average is down 4 cents per gallon in the last week from $2.53.

Fuel analyst website GasBuddy predicts prices will continue to fall over the next few days, before heading back up heading into the annual meeting of OPEC, or Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries.

The lowest price available without a wholesale club membership in Palm Beach County was at BP at Lake Worth and Haverhill roads in Greenacres, GasBuddy reported.

AAA found self-serve, regular gasoline selling for as low as $2.43 per gallon and as high as $2.70 in Rhode Island. The national average has gone up 37.6 cents since a year ago and is also up 3.5 cents since last month.

Other gas stations on the stretch of South State Road 7 between Northwest 215th Street and Interstate 95 remained at $2.39 or less.
