  • Thibaut Courtois ready to listen to Real Madrid offer if Chelsea don't give in to demands

Thibaut Courtois has reportedly informed Chelsea that he wants a salary of £205,000 a week in order to sign a new contract with the Premier League champions.

The Belgium worldwide has less than two years left to run on his current deal at Stamford Bridge, with that agreement set to expire in the summer of 2019.

The Belgium No 1's deal expires at the end of next season, and he rejected the offer of a new one in the summer.

Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has put Real Madrid on alert by deciding to delay contract negotiations with the club until the end of the season.

Courtois has been Chelsea's number one goalkeeper since returning from three years on loan at Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2014 and has developed into one of Europe's best stoppers since leaving Genk in 2011.

The stopper, who now earns £100,000-a-week at Stamford Bridge, wants the Blues to match the wages of Manchester United's David De Gea.

Chelsea and Courtois were involved in talks over an extension at the start of this season, but both parties could not agree over terms of the final contract.

And speaking ahead of Wednesday's Champions League outing, Courtois said: "We have so many games at the moment, and I prefer to focus on the team's games, my own performances".

However, despite his successes at Chelsea, rumours linking Courtois with a return to Spain have never fully died down, with Atletico's fierce rivals Real Madrid having always been reported to hold an interest in the Belgian.

At Chelsea he has won the League Cup (2015) and two Premier League titles (2015 and 2017).
