  • Flat-Earther Plans Homemade, Manned Rocked Launch This Coming Saturday

"I know about aerodynamics and fluid dynamics and how things move through the air, about the certain size of rocket nozzles, and thrust". He passed out after the landing though and needed three days to recover.

The rocket - which he claims cost £15,000 ($20,000) to build and is made from salvaged parts like metal and an old aircraft air filter - will be launched from the back of a converted motorhome.

According to the Associated Press, Hughes said: "If you're not scared to death, you're an idiot". This isn't Hughes first rocket flight though, he jumped a previous rocket in Winkelman, Arizona in 2014 and traveled 1,374 feet. According to Hughes, NASA is controlled by round-earth freemasons, who have been giving wrong information to the public for many years.

Hughes also says that he doesn't believe in science. "But none of us are getting out of this world alive". "I researched it for several months in between doing everything else - you know, I've still got to make a living and all that kind of stuff, and building this rocket actually eats up a lot of my time", he told the flat-Earth Web show.

This rocket is his second creation and launch. It's a five-acre property he leased from Waldo Stakes, CEO of Land Speed Research Vehicles, who's working on a project to make a auto that could travel 2,000 miles per hour.

The location of the jump will be Amboy, a ghost town in the Mojave Desert and along historic Route 66.

"I don't believe in science", he said. The fictional town of Radiator Springs in the Disney movie "Cars" was loosely based on Amboy.

The flight will take place over a ghost town in California, and he had to get permission from the town's owner, Albert Okura, before planning the stunt. "He is a true daredevil and I want to be part of it".

Hughes certainly seems to be aware that blasting yourself into the sky is not something that most people would consider a particularly good idea, given possible outcomes such as being scalded by red-hot steam or smashing into the ground at lethal speeds.

The launch will involve heating some 70 gallons of water in a stainless steel tank before taking off between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. local time. In 2014, Hughes launched himself almost 1,400 feet into the air while recording the trip on a GoPro camera.

They're discouraging fans due to safety issues but it will be televised on his YouTube channel.

The self-taught rocket scientist said he's already working on a "Rockoon", a rocket that will be carried into the atmosphere by a gas-filled balloon before it separates.

He said that he hopes to build a space rocket someday that can take him to where he can see planet Earth with his own eyes.
