  • Jude Law plays a young Dumbledore in the film Fantastic Beasts The Crimes of Grindelwald

According to Warner Bros., in the new film Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) has escaped custody and will be seen gathering followers to his nefarious cause. It will be up to Dumbledore and Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) to stop him.

Most notably, the cast photo features the debut of Jude Law's Dumbledore, who looks unnervingly relaxed.

David Yates, who directed "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" and the final four "Potter" installments, is returning to helm the second film in the series from a script by J.K. Rowling.

His turn in the first film was well-received and keeping him around wouldn't confuse audiences.

Hold on to your Nimbus 2000s, Harry Potter fans, because the recently released cast photo from the Fantastic Beasts sequel Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald has the internet losing its collective mind.

Voldemort may have been Dumbledore's most notorious nemesis, but Grindelwald was his first white whale.

Zoe Kravitz and Callum Turner are among the newcomers, as Leta Lestrange and Theseus Scamander respectively. After viewers of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them discovered that Percival Graves (Colin Farrell) was actually Grindelwald in disguise the whole time, he was ultimately caught and imprisoned.

"Lines are drawn as love and loyalty are tested, even among the truest friends and family, in an increasingly divided wizarding world", and that could mean some very hard decisions for Newt himself. Part of Newt's fight against Grindelwald could also be complicated by a love triangle with his own brother.

The "Fantastic Beasts" movies seem to be building up to this epic wizard battle. The two ambitious teenagers, who had been dreaming up plans to reconfigure the wizarding world order, eventually fell out following a duel in which Dumbledore's sickly sister Ariana ended up dead.

Claudia Kim also appears as Maledictus, who carries a blood curse that eventually transforms her into a beast, Collider reported. If you look closely at Grindelwald's wand, you'll recognize it as the Elder Wand.

The teaser shows the cast of The Crimes of Grindelwald in costume - and in character - as they pose for the picture, partially frozen until the midway point, when a dark fog overtakes the screen and reveals the title and the November 16, 2018 release date.
